The association of the Arg16→Gly polymorphism and essential hypertension was tested by comparison of the distribution of genotypes and alleles with the χ2 test. The relative risk of hypertension associated with allelic variation at the β2 adrenergic receptor gene is expressed in terms of an odds ratio with 95% confidence limits, which was computed according to the methods of Miettinen with the application of Yates’ correction.
