As you surely have read in my hotlist, I love London. And that's why I'm currently working on a cooperative study with Mark Caulfield at St. Barts Hospital and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry. After having worked at a facility at Barts Hospital for several years, the Royal London has now its own Genome Center! Definitely worth browsing through....

St. Bartholomew's, London's first hospital and known affectionately as 'Barts', was founded by an Augustinian monk, Rahere, in 1123. Dissolved in 1537 by Henry VIII (of whom there is a statue over the gatehouse), it was started again in 1544 by Sir Richard Gresham. Its first three surgeons were appointed in 1549 and the medical school started around 1662. The hospital was continually expanded with departments for several specialist areas. The medical school became part of the University of London in 1900. Henry VIII's charter continued until 1948 when the hospital became part of the National Health Service.

The Hospital, as mentioned above, is linked to the Queen Mary College (University of London). I check my London email as well, but you might get shorter response time by emailing me at my University of Graz address.
